Seasons and climate

Norway’s climate is as varied as its landscape — shifting dramatically from north to south, and from the coast to the mountains. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, much of Norway stays milder than other destinations at the same latitude, but each season offers something unique.

Spring (March – May)

Nature wakes up. Waterfalls roar from melting snow, and the days grow longer.
Temperatures: 0°C to 20°C (32°F – 68°F)

Summer (June – August)

Long, bright days — and in the north, the Midnight Sun never sets. Perfect for outdoor activities like fjord cruises, kayaking, or mountain hikes.
Temperatures: 15°C to 25°C (59°F – 77°F), occasionally warmer inland

Autumn (September – November)

Golden colors, crisp air, and a growing chance to spot the Northern Lights up north.
Temperatures: 5°C to 15°C (41°F – 59°F)

Winter (December – February)

A snowy wonderland of starry skies and Arctic adventures — where skiing, dog sledding, and the Northern Lights reach peak magic.
Temperatures: -10°C to 5°C (14°F – 41°F), occasionally as low as -30°C inland
